Cardboard Creations

This unit of learning invites students to reflect on the small daily essentials we often take for granted, and to consider what those fleeing war-torn countries might bring with them in search of safety and hope. Through personal reflection and thoughtful discussion, students explore the significance of seemingly simple objects in their own lives. The unit culminates in the creation of large-scale sculptures that express appreciation for these essential items. Students study their chosen object from various angles and engage in hands-on activities, exploring different construction techniques in making their sculptures that celebrate the ordinary yet crucial everyday objects. This project emphasises empathy, creativity, and an understanding of the emotional weight that even the smallest possessions can carry.
