Reflecting on my Professional Practice
This mind map represents my journey of reflection throughout the PME programme, outlining the key values, motivations and preconceptions that have shaped my teaching philosophy. As I move toward my future practice as a newly qualified teacher, I reflect on two recurring themes that have emerged in my reflections; Student Engagement and Motivation, and The Value of Student Relationships. These themes have been central to my development as a teacher, influencing my approach to fostering students’ creative growth, autonomy and connection in the classroom. Through this exploration, I aim to highlight how my evolving understanding of these themes has guided, and continues to shape my teaching philosophy.
Fostering Independent Learners
In this mind map, I explore an area of practice that I am keenly interested in developing - namely, fostering independent students. I am passionate about not only supporting students creativity, but also their overall holistic development. I explore insights from literature on self-directed learning theories and strategies, and consider how I can apply these in my teaching practice. I also create a plan for continual professional development in this area, and other areas that would further enhance my understanding in supporting students in my art classroom.
