Formative Assessment
I believe in empowering students to reach their fullest potential, and formative assessment plays a crucial role in guiding their growth by providing meaningful, actionable feedback along the way. One of the key approaches I use is the "medal and mission" method, (Petty 2014), which provides students with positive feedback ("medals") to recognise their strengths, and constructive suggestions for improvement ("missions"). This approach helps students feel acknowledged while clearly understanding areas to focus on for further development. I adopt this method across all feedback formats, all of which enable students to engage with their learning in diverse and meaningful ways. These methods work together
to ensure that feedback is continuous, supportive, and responsive to the needs of each student.
